Augmentra Ltd, a specialist in developing location-based mapping solutions for the non-urban environment, develops and markets ViewRanger.
Augmentra Ltd delivers innovative solutions that maximise the opportunities offered by the convergence of mobile phone, imaging, and GPS technologies. Existing location-based applications have focused on urban and street navigation. Augmentra's solutions are specifically created to match the needs of the active outdoor enthusiast - whether tourist, walker, cyclist, or sailor - and to overcome the issues created by using mobile technology in a rural environment.

ViewRanger was awarded by Ordnance Survey as Most Innovative Product in the Navigation Sector 2007-08, and was named by Nokia as Best Location-Aware Service & Application in Nokia's S60 Global Challenge 2006.
In addition to ViewRanger, Augmentra develops smartphone applications for its partners in the international travel and leisure markets. Clients include AA Publishing, Ordnance Survey Ireland, and Star-Apic S.A. Augmentra also works with content owners and publishers to bring their content to the mobile market.
Mike Brocklehurst and Craig Wareham, two long-time colleagues with substantial experience in the development, sales and marketing of successful software applications, founded the business in 2006.

Management Team
Richard Brennan, Chairman. Richard Brennan is a seasoned Senior Executive in the Telecommunications industry with significant strengths in Global Marketing and Branding. He joined Hutchison Whampoa in 1993 in the UK as part of the Founding Executive Management Team for Orange plc. He has held Board positions with Mobistar, GSMA CEO Board, and was Chairman of the Board for Wildfire, Inc. He now works around the globe with innovative, energetic, and fast moving companies. He currently serves as Chairman of Zygo Communications; and works as a senior consultant for a leading global handset OEM. Richard is a keen cyclist.
Craig Wareham, CEO. Craig Wareham has twenty years experience in the development, sales and marketing of visual computing technology and applications. Before co-founding Augmentra in 2006, Craig was VP Marketing at ART VPS Ltd, where he was responsible for building the company's market-leading position in high-quality 3D visual-processing solutions for the professional design market. Craig was part of the start-up team at Cambridge Animation Systems, where he latterly managed many of the company's key relationships with major customers in Hollywood. Craig pioneered and developed several user-interface tools at Cambridge Animation, and prior to that at Spaceward Microsystems, which were adopted by other applications in the computer-graphics industry.
Mike Brocklehurst, CTO. Mike Brocklehurst draws on over seventeen years of leadership and innovation within complex software projects in start-up and emerging companies. Prior to co-founding Augmentra, Mike was VP Engineering and Operations at ART VPS Ltd where he was responsible for the company�s Engineering, Customer Service, Quality Assurance and Production operations. Mike was previously part of the start-up team at Cambridge Animation Systems where he was Software Projects Manager, responsible for overseeing successful development of the company�s market leading software products. Mike is an author on several patents relating to 2D and 3D visual technology. Mike gained a degree in Mathematics followed by a Postgraduate Computer Science Diploma at Christ's College, University of Cambridge. Mike is a passionate hill-walker and frequent visitor to the Lake District for walking and landscape photography.
Simon Thorpe, Non-executive Director. Simon Thorpe was formerly COO of Global Equity Research at UBS Investment Bank, where he had originally headed the telecoms research group. Simon is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He is a Non-Executive Director of Mantle, a commercial and residential property developer, investor and management company. Simon is a keen cyclist.
Ian Pond, Non-Executive Director. Ian Pond is a telecoms sector strategy, marketing & commercial operations specialist. Ian was a member of the marketing team that developed and launched the Orange brand in the UK in 1994, heralding the start of brand-led marketing in the mobile industry, before joining Orange's international board leading teams undertaking rebranding programmes, new licence bids and business start ups around the world. Ian has spent 15 years within the global mobile telecoms sector - with Orange/France Telecom Group and more recently on a consulting basis including major assignments for TomTom and Truphone. Ian walks, fishes, and surfs.
Kurt Lyall. Kurt Lyall has over a decade of experience working with customers to launch innovative web and mobile solutions. Most recently Kurt was head of TomTom's mobile division in Amsterdam. Prior to TomTom, Kurt co-founded FirstPartner, a research and marketing consultancy, which was later sold to Vertical Group ASA. Before FirstPartner, Kurt worked for T-Mobile and T-Venture developing commercial opportunities for mobile content.
