A typical landscape of the Sfakia region with rough terrain and rocky, barren slopes. The northern side of these mountains is markedly different, with softer terrain, more vegetation and villages bearing influence of Venetian architecture. Dozens of hiking paths are recorded on the map, mainly in canyons as well as long crossings such as the E4 trail.

North Aegean: Thasos [7.1] Hiking Map 1:36,000
Price£4.34 £3.62 excl. TAX

Thasos island is gifted with natural resources and natural beauty. Forests, mineral wealth, marbles, and - more recently - beaches attract visitors and the exploitation of its natural resources. The scars on the landscape are numerous: ancient mining tunnels and holes, ancient towers guarding the coast, mining remnants of the last century, modern quarries, coastal tourist settlements. With this map that was made with the support and collaboration of the Environmental Association of Thasos we propose a new approach to the island, as sightseers and hikers to discover routes in magnificent forests, cool waterfalls and ravines, swim in natural marble pools, visit picturesque villages of the hinterland, to appreciate all that nature gives generously.

Coasts guarded by medieval watchtowers, a fertile hinterland dotted with fortified settlements, grand churches and monasteries - all built on the wealth accumulated by the export of the island's aromatic mastic - combine to make Chios is a truly unique experience.
